Are you a parent? Did you know MyChart can be a useful tool for you as you enter back-to-school season?

MyChart is a game-changer for parents navigating this busy time. By centralizing your children’s medical information, appointment schedules and vaccination records in one convenient location, MyChart eliminates the need for time-consuming phone calls and paperwork.

Plus, you can quickly schedule or reschedule appointments, access test results and communicate with your child’s health care provider all from your smartphone or computer. This streamlined access not only helps keep track of essential health updates and deadlines but also reduces stress and allows more time for family activities and school preparations.

With MyChart, parents can efficiently manage their child’s health care, ensuring a smooth transition into the new school year.

Scheduling wellness exams, sports physicals, vaccinations and virtual care when the kids are sick are just a few examples of what MyChart can do.

“Our patients have direct access to their medical record through MyChart,” Julia Paduano, APRN-CNP, system chair of our experience of care council for our medical group, says. “MyChart is a web-based portal that allows patients to see surgical or inpatient notes, lab and imaging results, immunization records and more. Patients can pay bills, schedule and reschedule primary care appointments, check in prior to visits to save time and message your providers to ask questions. With MyChart, your entire health care ecosystem is at your fingertips.”

What’s especially convenient about MyChart is the ability to include pictures with messages. You can also send forms that your employer or your child’s school needs completed. The highest standard of patient privacy is still maintained, and providers are able to meet families exactly where they are in their busy lives.

“I think technology makes the care we provide more personal,” Julia adds. “We can message you about changes within our practice, or you can write back and keep us informed of what’s going on with your health in real time.”

This open line of communication saves you from having to come in every time they need your provider’s input, especially when it comes to your teens and kids.

“One thing we always offer in MyChart is proxy access, which can be given to any legal guardian or parent, to a child or a minor, and to an adult caring for an adult,” Julia clarifies.

This means parents can manage their child’s health care until they become a young adult and are prepared to take over. An automatic setting within MyChart allows older teenagers to share proxy access with parents while still respecting their health care rights to privacy.

“I have three kids and MyChart is great for my busy schedule,” Julia shares. “Maybe I’m traveling or can’t call during business hours.”

Instead, Julia is able to save time by using the MyChart portal to quickly schedule or cancel appointments, pull up immunization records or send a picture of a mysterious rash to the pediatrician.

Busy parents are asked to do it all – and MyChart is a solution that can alleviate the pressure!
