Daniel “Dan” Basinski, PA-C, was first inspired to go into health care after helping a friend through their health care journey of battling leukemia.
“I would drive him to some of his appointment and was truly in awe at some of the providers who helped him,” Dan shares. “I always try to give my patients as much care as those providers gave my friend.”
A high school and college athlete, Dan has always felt drawn to sports. After completing physician assistant school, he served in emergency care, geriatrics and occupational medicine, before finally choosing to specialize in orthopedics.
“Helping to get someone back in the game, whether that is an athlete or an older adult that wants to continue an active lifestyle, is what makes working in my specialty rewarding,” Dan says.
We are so happy he recently joined our team at Mercy Health – Lorain Orthopedics and Sports Medicine and sees patients at multiple locations in the area.
Dan recalls one particular story where he helped a patient who made an urgent appointment due to arthritic knee pain.
“Her granddaughter was getting married and she wanted to be able to dance at the reception,” he shares. “What I didn’t know at the time was that my wife and I would attend the very same wedding and we got to watch her dance!”
Dan and his wife have been married for 31 years and have four adult children who live in multiple states.
“We enjoy traveling to see them, but also enjoy traveling as a couple.”Learn more about the orthopedics and sports medicine services we offer at Mercy Health.
