Our nurses provide compassionate care to our patients every day. Shannon goes above and beyond for the sickest patients.
Shannon Haynes, RN, works as a critical care nurse in the intensive care unit at Mercy Health – Clermont Hospital in our Cincinnati market. She cares for patients who are seeing some of the toughest days of their lives. And while some may focus solely on a patient’s clinical care, Shannon’s efforts to understand her patients as individuals gives her the opportunity to provide a more well-rounded, holistic approach to healing.
One of Shannon’s fellow team members Mercy Health – Clermont Hospital says it’s that dedication and compassion for her patients that is truly remarkable.
“One of Shannon’s greatest strengths is her ability to connect with her patients on a personal level,” they say. “She takes the time to truly get to know them, their families and their home life.”
Recently, Shannon demonstrated the true essence of our Mission of extending the compassionate ministry of Jesus. A patient who was scheduled to be transferred to hospice care noticed the beautiful weather outside their window in the ICU. In an act of kindness and empathy, Shannon took the patient outside in their bed so they could feel the warm sun and the gentle breeze on their skin.
Shannon’s colleague says that while this may have seemed like a simple gesture to Shannon, it meant the world to her patient and their family.
“In a world where human kindness sometimes feels scarce, Shannon’s genuine compassion shines through, reminding us all of the power of small gestures,” they say.
It’s through this kindness and empathy that Shannon is seen not only as an advocate for her patients’ physical well-being, but also their preferences and wishes. She stands up for what they want and ensures their voices are heard, dedicating herself to respecting their autonomy and dignity.
“We are incredibly grateful to have Shannon as part of our unit,” her colleague says. “Her unwavering commitment to her patients and her genuine care for their well-being are an inspiration to us all.”
