For Elizabeth Heitmeyer, a nurse practitioner, seeing improvement in a patient’s daily life is very fulfilling.

“I have always been interested in the medical field and learning how to help people,” Elizabeth shares. “I work in a specialty as a nurse and thoroughly enjoyed learning how to help improve a patient’s life with interventions.”

We are so happy that Elizabeth recently joined our team at Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Neuroscience and Rehabilitation! Elizabeth specializes in pain management and shares that the most rewarding aspect of providing care is seeing her patient’s health improve and being the one to help them reach their health goals.

Elizabeth serves a variety of patient populations and loves that she is able to see many different patients. Her previous role as a nurse with us made her realize that her values aligned with those of our ministry.

“I am excited for the personal as well as educational growth that our ministry offers,” she says.

In her practice, many different treatment plans are available for patients depending on their specific needs.

“We are a multi-interventional office, which means we do not rely on medications only for pain,” she says. “We use procedures, therapy and many other interventions to help provide relief from pain.”

Changing patients’ lives for the better drives her passion to provide care above and beyond the expectations of patients.

“One experience that had a large impact on me was helping a particular patient achieve their pain relief goal after they tried multiple providers and interventions before,” she shares. “The relief and happiness they achieved as we worked together made a large impact on me.”

Elizabeth values trust in a provider/patient partnership.

“Building trust and keeping it in conjunction with communication is vital to achieving goals set together,” she adds.

Outside of providing care, Elizabeth enjoys running, lifting, being active, reading and spending quality time with her family and friends.
