Don’t Let the Pandemic Delay Your Health Screenings Any Longer

Are you one of the thousands of people across the country that have delayed a health screening due to COVID-19?

If so, you’ll want to schedule it as soon as you can.

Delaying important health screenings, such as mammograms and colonoscopies, can lead to detection of more advanced cancer and a potentially longer treatment journey. Additionally, early detection of diseases gives people the best chance for positive health outcomes.

Keeping up with your medical appointments is critical, especially as we emerge from a global pandemic. Stacie Schuerman, PA-C, with medical oncology at Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center understands that people are concerned about the risks associated with COVID-19.

“Patients may feel hesitant to visit health care facilities at this time,” Stacie says. “However, I want to emphasize that it’s important not to delay screenings.”

Maybe you have not yet rescheduled your appointment that was cancelled due to the pandemic. Or maybe you have an appointment coming up that you feel nervous about. Whatever you do, Stacie emphasizes to not delay health screenings any longer!

Additionally, all our facilities are taking abundant precautions to protect patients, including physical distancing measures as well as environmental cleaning and disinfection procedures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We also have a screening process for everyone who wishes to enter a facility. And finally, all employees, patients and individuals accompanying a patient must wear face masks and sanitize their hands.

Mercy Health remains a safe place to seek care and we are ready to provide safe, high-quality care so you can continue to be healthy for those who count on you.
