Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we have always looked for innovative opportunities to encourage responsible behavior so that we all may return to some semblance of normal as soon as possible.
One such opportunity recently presented itself in Western Kentucky. We were honored and proud to join other like-minded health care systems in the region on a special public service announcement.
Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital has come together with Baptist Health Paducah, Marshall County Hospital, Massac Memorial Hospital, Murray-Calloway County Hospital to inspire the region’s residents to #MaskUp and #Vaccinate.
The 60-second message, titled “Hope for Tomorrow,” is an encouraging look into the future. It depicts people from all walks of life committed to wearing masks and receiving the COVID-19 vaccine to protect one another. They know that doing so is the key to a tomorrow where such precautions are no longer required.
In a joint statement, the CEOs of Baptist Health Paducah, Marshall County Hospital, Massac Memorial Hospital, Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital and Murray-Calloway County Hospital state that masking and social distancing remain as important today as it did during the early days of the pandemic.
“While we strongly encourage vaccination and are excited by the hope that it brings, we know the science is clear that precautionary measures such as masking and social distancing are still vital to defeat this pandemic. The Hope for Tomorrow PSA is our way as the region’s health providers to remind our community of what was and what will be again. We are still in this together, and through vigilance, and committing to #maskup and #vaccinate, we will protect one another and reach the other side of COVID-19.”
The combination of getting vaccinated and following the current recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers the best protection from COVID-19 for both individuals and communities as a whole.
