Thank you to everyone who has been tuning in to our “Mental Health During COVID-19” video series!

Dr. Carson Felkel, system medical director behavioral health, and Dr. Aimee Drescher, a clinical psychologist in the Toledo market, have been hosting informative discussions on behavioral health. So far, they’ve focused on mental health as it pertains to families and kids during this unconventional time as we live through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since September is National Suicide Prevention Month, in their new video Dr. Felkel and Dr. Drescher cover the serious topic of suicidal concerns with kids, particularly teenagers. They take time to walk through the different levels of suicidal thoughts and actions. They also provide helpful tips on how to talk to a child about any suicidal thoughts they may be experiencing.

If you have a conversation with your kid about suicide, it is important to remain calm, to listen to what they have to say and let them know it is going to be okay. In emergency situations, always call 911.
