“My inspiration to enter the medical field came from my mom’s nursing career,” Katie Ackerman, physician assistant – certified (PAC), shares. “Additionally, I wanted to work in a field that I could get to know people and take care of them.”

We are so excited to welcome Katie to our team! She specializes in obstetrics-gynecology (OB/GYN) at Mercy Health – Findlay Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital.

“The most rewarding aspect of OB/GYN for me is that it allows for me to establish rapport and continuity of care with my patients,” she shares. “I love getting to know my patients and making them feel comfortable and well-cared for.”

Katie started with our ministry right out of physician assistant school and since then has been assisting in surgery, using her extensive training in OB/GYN. She is passionate about disease processes in this field, the overall wellness of patients as well as providing holistic care to her patients.

“I see a wide range of patients of all ages. I enjoy seeing patients pre- and post-op or for other surgical concerns because of my involvement in the cases and getting to see how their quality of life improves.”

Katie says her patients can expect her to “provide individualized, holistic, ministry-focused care to them. I will take the time to listen to their needs and be sure that we work together to develop the most appropriate plan of care for them.”

Katie is looking forward to her future career growth and patient care experience with us.

“Being a new PA, I am learning every day! I am constantly challenged by new disease processes, procedures and every other learning opportunity OB/GYN offers,” she shares.

Katie adds, “I’m excited to be starting my career and look forward to seeing my patient care skills thrive. I am most excited to be learning in an environment like Mercy Health, where ministry and service is an important aspect of care.”
