Karen Rosenberger, RT(N), CNMT, (pictured above, left) is a nuclear medicine technologist at Mercy Health – Perrysburg Hospital.

Her coworker, Sue Stickley, RT, (pictured above, right) recently recognized Karen for helping a patient in need.

“Karen had a patient that [didn’t have] any financial means,” Sue explains. “When the patient was finished with their testing, Karen made sure that they could go to the cafeteria and get a meal before leaving. She gave the patient money from her own personal means so that they could buy some lunch! She also helped the patient obtain a cab ride home.”

Sue further shares candidly why she decided to recognize Karen.

“I was inspired by Karen’s selfless act of kindness,” she says. “Karen never thought twice about helping someone in need, she used her own personal funds to make sure this patient was taken care of at the end of the day because they didn’t have any money for food or transportation. I would say Karen was a great example of living the ministry and I am proud to call her a colleague.”

Karen also opens up about helping this particular patient in need.

“For me this was not a choice. 1 John 3:17 clearly states that if the love of God is in you, then you cannot shut up your heart toward a brother in need,” she says. “I must also give credit to the social worker at Perrysburg Hospital who helped me secure the taxi ride for this homeless patient, who actually needed the ride to work after their appointment.”

Karen takes pride in being part of our ministry.

“I am proud to work in the health care industry where I am given the opportunity to touch people’s lives at a time when they often feel the most vulnerable,” she explains. “It’s a time when they need compassion and encouragement. It is very fulfilling for me to touch them in practical ways that make their day a little brighter.”

Karen recently received a Core Culture Award in the Called to Shine program, our ministry’s digital recognition program which allows employees to recognize anyone across the ministry at any time, with personalized messages. Our leaders can allocate points to recognitions they send, and employees can redeem these points for merchandise, experiences and much more.
