As our ministry continues to adapt and address the ever-changing health care needs of those we serve, nothing is more important than communities having access to specialized care. This is why Mercy Health is proudly opening an OB/GYN practice in Springfield, OH, in partnership with OB/GYN, LTD.

This practice provides enhanced access for patients seeking specialized obstetrics and gynecological care. As a former OB/GYN, LTD. practice, it will still utilize the same electronic medical records, share in quality data and have access to a robust network of primary care providers and other specialists. Now, it will also have new technology provided by our ministry.

“Our model of care at Mercy Health has always been centered around the patient,” Tyler Walters, vice president of operations, Mercy Health Physicians – Springfield, shares. “I am extremely proud of the robust network of providers, both primary and specialty care, and today, several more providers will be joining our team and further allowing patients in Clark County to receive high-quality, compassionate care, close to home.”

Mercy Health – Springfield Regional Medical Center remains the only hospital-based labor and delivery site within 35 miles in this community. Thus, with this OB/GYN practice, our ministry is prioritizing expecting mothers so they no longer need to leave the area for specialized care.

Not only does this practice expand our footprint in the Springfield area, it also provides the expertise of our physicians Shawn Osterholt, MD, and Curtis Orr, MD, to more individuals. By specifically focusing on infant mortality, healthy birth weights, specialized expertise in maternal fetal medicine (MFM) and redefining our laborist model, the goal is to foster more full-term pregnancies within our greater Springfield community.

“This new partnership allows us to work together so we can further enhance all aspects of women’s health care locally. It’s together where we can ensure that women have access to top quality gynecology care as well as pregnancy care,” Dr. Osterholt says.
