Here at Mercy Health, we pride ourselves on our united purpose: to help our patients be well in mind, body and spirit. We want our patients to have the best, safest experience possible. This is why we’re proud to announce that the Leapfrog Group awarded many of our hospitals with its highest safety rating of an “A.” This includes all five of Mercy Health’s Cincinnati hospitals as well as four additional hospitals.

The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit healthcare ratings organization. It assigns safety letter grades based on a hospital’s performance in preventing of medical errors, infections and other harms. This report is developed and reviewed by patient safety experts. Most importantly, it helps patients and their families make informed decisions when choosing a hospital.

Leapfrog awarded 832 hospitals with an “A,” for meeting the highest standards of patient safety. Among these are Mercy Health’s Anderson Hospital, Clermont Hospital, Fairfield Hospital, West Hospital and Jewish Hospital.

“I congratulate each and every nurse, physician and staff member working in our hospitals on earning the best possible safety grade,” said Mike Garfield, Mercy Health Cincinnati CEO and senior vice president. “Providing the highest quality care is always our goal and I appreciate all the hard work you do continually to achieve excellence on behalf our patients.”

In addition to the Cincinnati region hospitals, Mercy Health’s St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Lorain Hospital in Lorain, and St. Charles Hospital and St. Anne in Toledo all received a safety grade of “A”.
