“I wanted a career that involved caring for people,” Claire Hendrix, MD, shares. “I felt medicine was a good combination of science, which I loved studying in college, and service to others.”
After three years serving as a physician in the United States Air Force, Dr. Hendrix recently decided to continue her career in the community of southwest Ohio. We are so happy that she joined Mercy Health – Liberty Falls Medical Center.
“I’m most excited to care for people at the margins and those in underserved communities,” Dr. Hendrix says. “Additionally, at Mercy Health, all of the physicians I’ve met have a good work/life balance and seem happy to be part of the ministry.”
Dr. Hendrix’s experience in the Air Force included learning skills such as battlefield acupuncture. This is a specific protocol of acupuncture in the ear that can help with pain related to migraines, tension headaches, neck pain, back pain, fibromyalgia, anxiety and depression. She also enjoys building strong relationships with her patients.
“I feel the most rewarding aspect of family medicine is the continuity of taking care of all ages and experiencing different stages of life with patients and their families,” Dr. Hendrix shares.
As a physician, she assures her patients that she will “listen to your concerns. Together we’ll come up with a treatment plan that is safe and in line with your ethical, religious and spiritual beliefs.”
She adds, “my goal is to enable my patients to have the best quality of life by working through the mind-body connection and minimizing risk from medications. I work with my patients to determine what that means for them individually.”
Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Hendrix loves to snowboard and work outside in her garden.
