We are so happy to welcome Loai Marouf, DO, to Mercy Health – Heart and Vascular Institute in Lorain and Oberlin.

“I’ve always enjoyed the sciences and I knew I wanted a science-based career with the potential to impact people’s lives for the better,” Dr. Marouf shares. “The first time I saw a patient’s beating heart while on the operating table, I was awed by the complexity of this single organ and the relatively simple job it had to pump blood. It put my purpose into perspective.”

Dr. Marouf has more than 12 years of practice experience, building strong patient relationships and a reputation for excellent patient care.

“I pride myself on doing the best job I can for my patients,” he explains.

When choosing a medical specialty to practice, Dr. Marouf was drawn to both the medical and surgical aspects of cardiology.

“We now have multiple options for treating and potentially curing several cardiac conditions,” he shares. “We also have the ability to provide significant improvement in patient symptoms within a relatively short amount of time.”

Dr. Marouf has additional training in arrhythmia as well as cardiac device management and specializes in several cardiology procedures including cardiac catheterization, pacemaker implants and diagnostics, loop recorder implants, trans-esophageal echocardiograms, cardioversion, varicose vein treatments and CardioMEMS pressure monitor implants.

Patients who see Dr. Marouf are often those experiencing chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, dizziness or passing out. He believes in establishing a relationship with patients that is built on mutual respect.

“I respect the patient’s input in the decision-making process,” Dr. Marouf says. “In return, there should be trust in my recommendations which are based on their best interests.”

Dr. Marouf always tries to make sure he is clearly explaining the diagnosis and any potential tests or treatments to the patient. And when he is not helping his patients? Dr. Marouf says he enjoys spending time with his friends and family. He also enjoys golfing and swimming, as well as wine tasting and collecting.
