We are wishing a warm welcome to Lauren Setzkorn, PA-C, who will be joining our team at Mercy Health – Celina Radiation Oncology and Mercy Health – Allison Radiation Oncology.
Drawn by the desire to care for people and inspired by her physician father, Lauren knew from an early age that she wanted to work in the medical field.
“I chose radiation oncology because I love that I can build relationships with my patients through the course of their treatment and survivorship,” Lauren shares. “It is incredible to work in a field that utilizes modern technology to help patients fight cancer.”
Lauren sees a broad spectrum of adult patients, from young adults to geriatrics who have received a cancer diagnosis.
“The most rewarding aspect of oncology is walking alongside my patients through their cancer journey,” Lauren explains. “I feel honored to support them, as I explain to them their diagnosis, help them make the best decisions for them and encourage them through treatments.”
For Lauren, the provider-patient relationship is truly about partnership.
“The provider brings knowledge and compassion, and the patient brings wisdom and interest. When built on mutual respect, this partnership can foster excellent health outcomes for patients.”
Lauren was interested in working for our ministry because of our mission to extend the compassionate ministry of Jesus.
“I feel blessed to serve within a ministry that values all people deeply and desires their best,” she adds. “I find that one of the biggest challenges of practicing medicine is wishing that I could carry my patients’ health burdens for them. I pray that I can make my patients’ burdens feel a little lighter for them by being someone who knows and cares about them.”
Outside of practicing medicine, Lauren loves to spend time with friends and family, serve with her church, travel, read and bake.
