“I was drawn to midwifery because I felt called to help empower women in health promotion, partner with them to advocate and manage their health,” Sara Linkey, MSN, APRN- CNM, says. We are so happy that she recently joined our ministry at Mercy Health – Oregon Midwives.

As a certified nurse-midwife, Sara is an advanced practice registered nurse who earned a master’s degree with a certificate in midwifery. She then tested to become a board-certified nurse-midwife. CNMs practice a holistic model of care that is family-centered and specialize in caring for women of all ages and provide well-woman, gynecological, family planning, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and peri-menopausal care.

“The most rewarding aspect of my specialty is supporting other women through their different life stages and building a personal connection with each of my patients and their families,” she says.

Sara has a special interest in both preventive care and the pregnancy care journey. She has experience and helps her patients use complementary and alternative medicine – such as herbal remedies and chiropractic care – to support the medical model and midwifery model of health care.

Sara focuses on building trusting relationships with her patients by empowering and supporting them through every step of their care: monitoring physical, psychological and social well-being, providing individualized education and counseling, offering evidence-based care and minimizing unnecessary interventions. Sara also strives to create a team approach to caregiving in order to meet her patients’ needs.

“I want my patients to know that it is my role to offer safe advice and options,” she shares. “While each patient ultimately decides what is best for them, I like my patients to know that I will partner with them to help them achieve their health care goals.”

Being a provider with our ministry makes Sara proud. Helping women through all stages of their life journey keeps Sara determined to provide exceptional care.

“I am passionate about providing care for the underserved population in this community and supporting others to be as successful as they can be,” she adds.

When she is not providing midwifery care, Sara loves traveling, being creative and DIY home remodeling projects. She also enjoys spending time with her dogs and family.
