National Nurses Week 2018

Think about the last time you or a loved one was sick. Whether you were at your primary care doctor, a specialist’s office or the hospital, there was likely one thing in common — a caring and compassionate nurse, there to take care of you and your family.

Nurses are at the core of who we are and everything we do at Mercy Health. They don’t just take care of our physical health. Nurses are there to listen, offer a smile and even say a prayer with us. And that’s why this National Nurses Week, we celebrate and uplift the 9,393 nurses that make Mercy Health the special place it is.

The founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale, said this: “How very little can be done under the spirit of fear.” More than 100 years after Nightingale spoke those words, we’re proud to say our nurses are living this out.

Our nurses are fearless. They don’t do what they do out of necessity or seeking recognition. Our nurses serve because it is their true calling. And we’re proud to say — our nurses are the very best.

This nurses week, we invite you to join us in saying thank you to the nurses in your life. Whether it’s someone who took care of you in a time of need, or a friend or family member who has chosen to respond to the calling, we hope you’ll find a way to let them know how much they’re appreciated.

To our nurses — whether you are delivering a newborn, working in an operating room, a family doctor’s office, or anywhere in between, a most sincere thank you for what you do and the sacrifice you make to take care of all of us — in mind, body and spirit.

Now, it’s time to meet our nurses! Check out this video below to see why we can’t help but brag on these awesome individuals. And if you want to join the team, there is a place for you here. Apply today.
