In celebration of Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Week, we are thrilled to spotlight the remarkable career of Donna Augustine!
Hailing from Archbold, Ohio, Donna is one of eight siblings. She obtained her registered nurse license from The Toledo Hospital School of Nursing and then earned her Bachelor of Nursing from Lourdes College.
After working in the labor and delivery unit, Donna found her passion. She then obtained her Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in midwifery from the University of Michigan.
For more than two decades, Donna has been a guiding force for countless women on their path to motherhood. As a certified nurse midwife at Mercy Health – Defiance Clinic, she is a steadfast advocate for her patients, striving to be their voice when they may temporarily lose theirs. Donna’s mission encompasses comprehensive women’s health, addressing not only physical needs but also tending to their mental and emotional well-being.
Donna consistently goes above and beyond for her patients, often stretching her own life thin to ensure she is there when they need her most. She dedicates ample time to each patient, offering thorough responses to their queries, unwavering emotional support and a compassionate ear. Her approach is characterized by providing evidence-based information, empowering patients to actively participate in their care decisions.
Though her practice can be very demanding, Donna never turns away a pregnant woman in need. She finds the time to see them, addressing their concerns and ensuring they receive the necessary assistance or testing. Donna’s immense compassion for her patients serves as a source of inspiration to all who witness her in action.
