The annual United Way Day of Caring took place in Lima, OH recently and Mercy Health had close to 100 volunteers participating! Our St. Rita’s volunteers lended a helping hand at multiple locations including West Ohio Food Bank, Equestrian Therapy, SAFY, Bradfield Center, The ARC of Allen County and Family Resource Center. This year's theme was “Change doesn’t happen alone” and our generous bunch from St. Rita's showed that when they came together to help their community.

Get game day ready! Serve up this simple and healthy batch of #guac for a boost of potassium, iron, fiber and heart-healthy fats. 🥑 2 avocados 🥑 1 tbsp lime juice 🥑 1/4 tsp each salt, pepper, and garlic powder 🥑 2 tsp diced red onion 🥑 2 tsp chopped fresh cilantro
Scoop avocado into a bowl and mash with a fork. Add remaining ingredients to bowl and mix. Get creative with your presentation and serve immediately.

Last week, the Mercy Health Youngstown Police Department officially blessed a unique and critical training facility for both the Mercy Health Youngstown market as well as the community. The new, state-of-the-art training facility will host a variety of real-world simulations both for in-hospital crisis as well as external disasters. It will also help train associates and community members on self-defense tactics and more. Lastly, community first responders and area police districts will use the center in partnership with Mercy Health – keeping our patients, their families and our associates safe! Big thanks to the Mercy Health Youngstown PD for all they do!

It's time to hit the trails! Mercy Health and @metroparkstoledo cut the ribbon on the third in a series of FitPark outdoor activity centers, providing a place for area mountain bikers to hone their skills. Swipe to see a video of some of the trail features.

Located at Beach Ridge Area at Oak Openings, FitPark Ride is a skills development course for cyclists with 21 obstacles. Cyclists can conquer the teeter-totter, roller coaster, snake ladder, and more, similar to what they will encounter on mountain bike trails.

We are so excited to support these outdoor initiatives in the community and help bring them to life. Each unique FitPark provides healthy, free or low-cost outdoor recreation opportunities. The first FitPark, with exercise equipment, opened last year at Wildwood Preserve. FitPark Paddle, opened just a few weeks ago, includes a kayak concession at Farnsworth, a kayak landing at Side Cut and the region’s first “kayak share” at Howard Marsh, where users can reserve a boat using their smartphone.
