Meet Abigail Holbrook, DO, who is currently practicing at Mercy Health — East Obstetrics and Gynecology in Cincinnati, OH.

“I was always fascinated by medicine,” shares Abigail Holbrook, DO. “Anatomy and physiology were my favorite subjects and combining those sciences with a human element is really engaging.”

Obstetrics and gynecology were also a very easy choice for Dr. Holbrook when picking her medical specialty.

“I loved surgery and working with my hands. I knew I wanted to care for women because I felt a kinship with their experiences,” she reveals. “So, getting to care for pregnant mothers and deliver babies is the icing on the cake!”

Working through the COVID-19 pandemic has been challenging for many of our providers, including Dr. Holbrook.

“It has forced all of us to slow down and identify with what is important in our lives.”

This holds true in her personal life too, as Dr. Holbrook and her husband welcomed their son, Ozzie, into the world just six months ago.

“Watching him grow is just fascinating,” she says.

In fact, thinking about her family and their life was one of the reasons Dr. Holbrook was drawn to work at Mercy Health.

“My husband and I wanted to live in an area that was both fun and exciting but offered security to raise a family.”

Dr. Holbrook and her husband started researching the Cincinnati area. When she was introduced to Michelle Federer, DO, her eventual partner, Dr. Holbrook shares, “I knew right away we could build something special at Mercy Health, a practice by women for women with attention to all stages of life.”

Dr. Holbrook is excited to grow her practice by serving her community. She is proud to be currently accepting new patients!

“I love being a doctor because at the end of the day, I want to make someone’s life a little better. I feel that working in medicine gives me the opportunity to do that.”
